The City Heights Community

A journey begins with a single step; the City Heights Partnership for Children begins in San Diego’s City Heights neighborhood because it is the youth epicenter of San Diego County. With a population of nearly 80,000, City Heights is a diverse, multicultural community in urban San Diego. Many families here are refugees or immigrants from east Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia or Latin America, and a large number live in poverty. City Heights has the highest concentration of youth in San Diego County – and consequently the highest number of “at risk” youth.

Despite the challenges, many residents are “stepping up” to serve as catalysts for positive change in this community. Working closely with a group of community-based organizations, City Heights residents are mobilizing to play an active role as advocates for our youth.

The City Heights Partnership for Children is the backbone of this collaborative community effort and we all share a common vision: a vibrant community and the wellbeing and success of our young people.
